Home from the hospital

This morning I picked up the sick pup. He did really well overnight and now just needs a little extra care to keep the blood sugar levels stable. If you ever have a pet emergency (all emergencies happen to me on the weekends!) and your vet is closed, go to MedVet. They were friendly, organized, and got us right in. Dad and I were busy today, going to Lowe's to get some plywood and safety locks for the cabinets, as the kitchen will now be Sebastian's new home! Check out my video link to see the patient awake and then snoring away 2 minutes later....
Dogs + Xylitol do NOT mix. I came home from a relaxing yoga class to find a decimated lunchbox with the remnants of a sugar-free gum package. Sebastian had eaten almost an entire pack. I had *heard* that Xylitol is "bad" for dogs, so I thought I would check online real quick. Well, that sent me into a panic so I called MedVet. They told me to put him in the car and get there ASAP as it is LETHAL!!! As of now, he is OK and is stable at MedVet overnight. Luckily, Orbit has less Xylitol than all the other gums and I caught it in time. Apparently most people wait to see if the dog has problems....by then, it has already posioned their liver and they start having diabetic seizures. This is one time I am happy that I am a worrier!
It has been a while! I was waiting for some excitement, and man did I get it this weekend! I flew to Charlotte Thursday morning for my niece's wedding. Technically she is my niece, but we used to describe ourselves as "twins" (we do not resemble each other at all) or "cousins". I can just call her one of my best friends:o) I had fun rooming with the bridal party, doing girly things together, and eating all the fabulous southern/Italian food. The best part was the candy bar...yards and yards of their favorite candies, including candy apples from The Big Apple. There was also a photo booth with props, which was hilarious. The pics printed out in doubles: one for you and one for their guest scrapbook. I will post pictures on my shutterfly picture page and will link the photographers pics when those are posted online. No detail was spared!

And the other excitement? One of my other best friends, Alyson, had her first baby yesterday! Kaelyn Jane surprised us all by coming a bit early yesterday, and I can't wait to go see her this week! They say that bad things come in "threes". Is it the same with good news??
