Get sassed!

Following Sassafras Bakery on Instagram is a dangerous thing. You will be sitting on your couch, innocently watching Disney Junior and thinking you don't need to go anywhere that say, when suddenly, you must have a carrot cake whoopie pie.

The kids and I stopped by once last summer during the Farmers Market, but we took our things to go to get out of the massive crowds. The peanut butter brownie and the whoopee pie were amazing, but we needed to go again to experience eating inside the sweet little bakery.

Located right on High street, Sassafras is hard to miss with their vintage-looking window art. You can park on the street, but it is just as easy to park directly across High street in the parking lot and cross.

Everything in the glass case was tempting, but our girl was set on having a cinnamon roll that morning. The friendly employee plated it up, warmed it, and set us up with a big old (lidded) cup of Snowville Creamery milk.

We were happy to see they had a high chair for Rhys (major points there!), who shared my massive blondie. A steady stream of customers came through and I was panicking a little as Rhys started getting fussy and wanted down. He proceeded to get chocolate blondie fingers all over their pristine case, but the kind employees didn't mom-shame me at all (more points!)

The atmosphere is how a bakery should be: friendly, vintage, soothing, chill. Everyone in there was happy to be there (and with those pies, why not?)

They have begun serving lunch, which I'd like to try soon. We will definitely be back to our local bakery, and I'd suggest it for anyone who needs a little treat with the kids.
